The Gauteng High Court in Palm Ridge delivered a verdict of guilty against Sifiso Mkhwanazi for the heinous crimes of murdering six Johannesburg sex workers.
Judge Cassim Moosa handed down convictions on six counts of murder, six counts of rape, six counts of defeating the ends of justice, and charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
While acquitted of robbery with aggravating circumstances, Mkhwanazi was found guilty of an alternative charge: theft of a cellphone belonging to one of the victims.
Mkhwanazi, aged 21, confessed to the killings, which occurred between April and October 2022, at his father’s panel beating workshop in Johannesburg. He claimed the victims were slain after they demanded additional payment for sexual services.
The court’s ruling marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice for the victims and their families.
