President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended Deputy Minister of Small Business Development, Dipuo Peters, in response to parliamentary sanctions imposed on her.
The Presidency confirmed the suspension on Friday, stating that Ramaphosa had notified Peters of his decision following a sanction adopted by Parliament’s Joint Committee on Ethics and Members Interests.
The committee found Peters guilty of breaching the Code of Ethical Conduct during her tenure as Minister of Transport, resulting in her suspension for one month.
Peters’ suspension, effective from February 28th to March 28th, will be without pay.
This development underscores the commitment to ethical conduct and accountability within government, with more updates expected to follow.
