Bulls rally to secure bonus point victory over Lions

In a dramatic turnaround, the Bulls staged a remarkable comeback to clinch a crucial bonus point win over the Lions in the URC derby at Ellis Park. Despite a lackluster first half, the Bulls managed to regroup and assert their dominance in the second half, sealing a 25-10 victory.

The match began with an early penalty for the Lions, but from thereon, it was all about the Bulls’ resilience and determination. Despite facing obstacles such as handling errors and stiff opposition from the Lions, the Bulls maintained their attacking style of play, showing faith in their approach.

A pivotal moment came when Gerhard Steenekamp’s poach set up a try for Canan Moodie, giving the Bulls a much-needed boost. However, the first half ended with a slim 5-3 lead for the Bulls, reflecting the overall scrappy nature of the game.

In the second half, the Bulls brought on Johan Goosen and Akker van der Merwe, injecting fresh energy into their lineup. Van der Merwe’s try extended their lead, while Marcell Coetzee’s impressive performance further solidified their control.

Although the Lions managed to score a late try through Quan Horn, it was the Bulls who had the final say with a bonus point try courtesy of David Kriel. This victory was a testament to the Bulls’ resilience and determination, while also highlighting the Lions’ shortcomings in attack.
