Witbank businessman kidnapped in alleged elaborate scheme, police launch investigation

In a shocking incident, Mr. Mahesh Sing, a prominent businessman based in Witbank, was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday morning, January 10, 2024, following what seems to be a meticulously planned ruse involving a fake electrical fault at his business.

According to information gathered from a family member, Mr. Sing received a call on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, purporting to be from a technician at Emalahleni Municipality assigned to address an electrical fault at his business. Falling victim to the apparent appointment, Mr. Sing visited his business premises on the morning of January 10, 2024.

Upon arriving at the Corridor Hill Business sector, Mr. Sing encountered a group of three suspects who reportedly arrived in a grey Ford Kuga at approximately 08:20. The registration numbers of their vehicle appeared to have been cloned, adding an additional layer of complexity to the situation. Two armed men, their faces concealed with balaclavas, reportedly forced Mr. Sing into the vehicle before swiftly departing towards the direction of Kriel, leaving his own vehicle behind.

An intriguing twist to the incident emerged as it was discovered that along the route, the suspects dropped Mr. Sing’s cellphone, which has since been recovered. Currently, law enforcement is working tirelessly to locate Mr. Sing, and an appeal has been issued to the public for any information regarding the suspects.
