In a dramatic turn of events this afternoon, a high-stakes operation led to the fatal shooting of five suspected bank robbers on the N14 Ventersdorp highway, with one female suspect successfully apprehended.

The incident unfolded after intelligence-driven information indicated that individuals traveling in a silver-grey Toyota and a white VW Polo were planning to carry out a robbery in or around Carletonville. Law enforcement promptly operationalized this intelligence, monitoring the suspects as they circled various banks within the Carletonville area.

The vehicles used by the suspects have been positively linked to three separate cases in Groblersdal, Secunda, and Hercules.

The deceased suspects have yet to be formally identified, and investigations are underway to establish the full extent of their criminal activities. The arrested female suspect is currently in custody and will face charges related to the attempted robbery and the ensuing shootout.
