Renowned rapper Snoop Dogg, recognized for his extensive history of marijuana use throughout his career, has declared his decision to cease smoking the drug after what he described as “much consideration & conversation with my family.”
The artist, also known by his real name Calvin Broadus, surprised his social media followers with the unexpected announcement. He shared, “After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time.”
Reactions among his followers were varied, with some expressing disbelief and making light-hearted jokes about Snoop Dogg’s sudden shift towards sobriety. Ro Marley, the son of the iconic reggae singer Bob Marley, humorously remarked, “No more BBQ at uncle’s…the grill is off for the season.”
Conversely, others shared personal stories of the negative impact of marijuana use, with one follower disclosing a major health incident related to smoking. They commented, “I had a pulmonary embolism last year and had to give up smoking as well; so more edibles for Edible Dee it is. I know how hard this transition is, especially for someone like you. Take all the time you need.”
Snoop Dogg, whose brand has been closely associated with marijuana, recently launched a line of ‘Best Bud Bags’ in collaboration with celebrity chef and close friend Martha Stewart—stylish clutches equipped with a lighter and a compartment for weed. This announcement comes just five posts after the rapper’s promotion of this latest business venture.
This isn’t the first instance of Snoop Dogg attempting to embrace sobriety. In 2002, he declared his decision to quit the drug for good, but unfortunately, he experienced a relapse shortly after. This previous attempt at clean living was humorously portrayed in Adam Sandler’s movie “40 First Dates.”
