The highly anticipated announcement of Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) caused pandemonium for Swifties across the globe. The singer, famous for her “easter eggs” and hidden messages used to enthrall fans, challenged Swifties to solve 89 puzzles on Google’s search engine to reveal the titles for the new “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” songs.
According to the pop superstar, 33 million puzzles needed to be solved, and Google was inundated with Swifties eager to solve the puzzles to unlock the mystery track titles. The sheer volume of users on the site caused the search engine to crash, resulting in the puzzles not popping up for some users. Google confirmed this via their X page, posting “Swifties, the vault is jammed! But don’t worry, there are no blank spaces inside. We’re in our fix-it era and will be out of the woods soon,”.
Once the global fandom hit the 33 million mark, a key to the vault popped up and unlocked a voice note from Tay-Yay herself on Google’s search engine to unlock a voice note from Swift announcing the tracks.
“Oh look, you did it!” Swift said. “You unlocked the ‘1989 (Taylors’ Version) vault and now I am so excited to share the new vault track titles with you. The titles are: “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legends,” “Say Don’t Go,” and “Is It Over Now?”
Using such a shrewd marketing strategy has created unprecedented excitement for 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which is scheduled to release on 27 October.
