South African Opera Singer Delivers Beautiful Performance at King Charles’ Coronation

Soprano superstar Pretty Yende wowed on the world stage when she performed at King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s coronation at Westminster Abbey over the weekend. Bedecked in a vivid yellow couture ball gown by French atelier Stephane Rolland, The singer performed a stunning rendition of Sarah Class’ The Sacred Fire. 

Yende made history as the first African singer to perform solo for the coronation of a British monarch.

Yende took to Instagram after her performance to thank the world for the influx of congratulations, happiness and support.

The renowned opera singer currently lives and works in Europe. She has secured leading roles the world over, and has performed at prestigious opera houses such as La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera. 

Yende had previously disclosed that she was the first-ever black artist to perform at La Scala.
